Position
The Wayne County Transportation Department in Honesdale, PA is hiring part‑time, dependable and compassionate drivers to provide door‑to‑door transportation for county residents, including seniors and wheelchair‑dependent persons.
Responsibilities- Operate a county van, driving an average of 150 miles each day to deliver transportation services.
- Communicate effectively with passengers and via two‑way radio.
- Assist passengers, including helping seniors and wheelchair‑dependent consumers on uneven or unpaved paths.
- Adjust schedules adaptively to meet passenger needs.
- Maintain a friendly, punctual, and courteous attitude while serving multiple passengers throughout the day.
- Part‑time employment: 14–21+ hours per week.
- Service hours: 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and limited hours on Saturdays.
- This position does not offer the option to telework.
- Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
- One year of experience operating a motor vehicle as a regular duty or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
- Meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer of employment requires a medical examination, drug screening, and background investigation.
- Compliance with the Child Protective Services Law is required.
- Submission of satisfactory criminal history reports, including Pennsylvania State Police clearance, Pennsylvania Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance, is mandatory.
