💡 Position Summary

The Fibre Engineer will support field-based fibre deployment and maintenance activities across multiple UK regions. This role is essential in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality installation of overhead and underground fibre infrastructure.

📜 Detailed

Job Description

As a Fibre Engineer, you will work within experienced field teams responsible for the construction, installation, and repair of FTTP and fibre network infrastructure. You will handle both overhead and underground works while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices. The role involves working across diverse environments, supporting live builds, performing fault repairs, and delivering high-quality workmanship. You will play a key part in supporting major network rollouts and upgrades across the UK, contributing to enhanced service reliability and customer connectivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair fibre networks across overhead and underground environments.
  • Conduct fibre splicing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with NRSWA standards and safety regulations.
  • Operate and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment required for fibre installation.
  • Liaise with supervisors, planners, and other field engineers to ensure smooth rollout progress.
  • Complete site documentation, job packs, and as‑built reports as required.
🎓 Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in overhead and/or underground fibre engineering.
  • Valid SA001 and SA002 certifications.
  • NRSWA accreditation (Street Works Qualification).
  • Full manual UK driving licence.
  • Strong understanding of FTTP installation methods and fibre network components.
  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in varied field conditions.
✨ Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience working on Openreach or similar large-scale fibre networks.
  • Knowledge of OTDR testing and fibre diagnostics tools.
  • Accreditation in underground safety or confined spaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and civils plans.
💡 Recruitment Pro Tip

Emphasise your hands‑on field experience—especially with overhead and underground builds—and make sure your certifications (SA001/SA002/NRSWA) are clearly listed and up to date, as these are key differentiators for rapid shortlisting in fibre engineering roles.
