Role DescriptionThis is a full‑time, hybrid Electrician role based in Reading with work based around the South East of England, with a focus on solar installations and telecommunications infrastructure. The Electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including solar power systems, telecoms cabling, and associated equipment. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, wiring and connecting components, performing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting faults to restore service safely and efficiently.
The role involves conducting site inspections, testing installations for compliance with relevant regulations, and completing accurate documentation and reports. The Electrician will collaborate with project managers and other technicians, follow strict health and safety procedures, and may support occasional out-of-hours work or emergency call‑outs as required.
- Strong practical skills and knowledge in electricity and electrical work, including safe installation and operation of electrical systems.
- Experience in maintenance & repair and troubleshooting of electrical, solar, and telecoms systems to quickly identify and resolve faults.
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles relevant to solar power, telecoms infrastructure, and general building services.
- Relevant electrical qualifications or apprenticeship completion (e.g., recognized electrician certification, NVQ or equivalent) and up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable electrical regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated experience with solar PV installations and telecoms cabling or equipment (e.g., inverters, DC systems, low‑voltage networks) is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications, and to complete accurate job records and reports.
- Commitment to health and safety, including use of PPE, risk assessments, and safe working practices at all times.
- Good communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a field team, and capacity to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.
