Our client is a well-established, diversified public accounting firm at the Jersey Shore. They are seeking an experienced Tax Manager (or Supervisor) to join their team. This is a firm with real depth — tax, accounting, business valuation, litigation support, financial planning, and family office services all under one roof — serving a sophisticated client base of closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and their trusts and estates.
This is a review role, not a preparation role
. You'll be overseeing and reviewing complex Federal and State individual, partnership, S-corp, C-corp, and fiduciary returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041) prepared by a capable staff, while providing the technical guidance and planning insight that keeps clients coming back year after year.
No business development required. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior technical role without the expectation of originating new business — the firm's growth comes from long-standing client relationships and referrals, so you can focus entirely on technical excellence, staff development, and client service.
Why this role:- Genuine path to partner for the right person — this firm is actively planning for its next generation of ownership and wants to invest in someone who wants to build a career here, not just a job
- No business development expectations — spend your time on technical work, not chasing new clients
- Diversified, high-quality client base — businesses, HNW individuals, trusts, and estates, with sophisticated planning work beyond just compliance
- Work/life balance built in — 4 days in-office, with alternating Fridays as WFH or fully off (May-December)
- Part-time considered for an experienced manager looking to scale back without stepping away from the profession
- Review complex Federal and State tax returns across individual, business, and fiduciary entities (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041)
- Serve as a technical resource for staff and a trusted advisor to clients on tax planning and compliance matters
- Manage client relationships directly, with the support of a firm that emphasizes long-term, high-touch service
- Mentor and develop staff-level preparers
- Contribute to firm growth and, over time, take on a genuine ownership stake
- CPA license, or actively pursuing CPA licensure. EA candidates also encouraged to apply
- 5+ years of public accounting experience with a strong review/technical background
- Experience across Federal and State individual, business, and trust/estate tax returns
- Proficiency with Thomson Reuters Ultra Tax CS and Go File Room , along with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Quick Books experience
- Someone who wants long-term stability and growth, whether that's a full-time path to partner or a part-time arrangement for someone scaling back
