Underwriting Assistant

The role will assist in the issuance of policies and documenting files in the policy operating system and support the underwriting team with correspondence, notes and documents. This position is in our Red Bank, NJ office.

Responsibilities
  • Support retail agents in gathering information/documents using tasks/reminders and Outlook.
  • Inspection ordering, review and discrepancy/recommendation handling.
  • Processing cancellation and reinstatement notices.
  • Processing pre-audit correspondence; closed event audits and premium bearing audits.
  • Claims reporting and confirmations.
  • Processing all endorsements.
  • Gradually learn the renewal quote process in development of underwriting skills for the future.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, or relevant experience.
  • Insurance background and/or experience, preferred with emphasis on Commercial P&C experience.
  • Strong customer service skills to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and uphold high service standards.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and agency management systems.
Compensation & Benefits

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded. Jencap offers a range of benefits and programs, based on eligibility, which currently include comprehensive health care coverage, a 401(k) plan, and tuition reimbursement.
