The Biomedical Engineering Technician I (BMET I) maintains medical equipment readiness and ensures conformance with manufacturer specifications by performing schedule maintenance, repairs, end-user support, and installations. BMET technicians support compliance with the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) to improve patient safety.
Education, Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Required
- AS degree in Electronics or AS degree in Biomedical Engineering or completion of U.S. military biomedical equipment technology program or a High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs with minimum of 2 years full time experience working on electronics equipment.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of electronic/mechanical devices.
- Demonstrates basic functions of customer service and support of electronic/mechanical devices.
- Unrestricted ability to attend both on the job training as well as offsite and/or out of state training requiring travel that can include one or more overnight stays.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current technology and its uses as it relates to healthcare.
- Perform duties with some supervision.
- BMET technicians have experience in a wide-range of electromechanical devices, computers, networks and software used in the delivery of healthcare.
Skills and Abilities
Preferred
- AS degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering.
- Full time experience working in Biomedical Engineering.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
