Sr. Accountant

Overview

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the firm's financial integrity across its diversified operations, including investment banking, securities brokerage, and asset trading activities. This position is responsible for advanced accounting functions, regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, transaction‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

+ Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.

+ Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of complex financial transactions related to investment banking fees, securities trading, derivatives, and asset management activities.

+ Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, securities positions, trading accounts, and intercompany transactions.

+ Support consolidation processes for multiple business units and legal entities.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

+ Assist in preparing regulatory filings such as FINRA FOCUS reports, SEC filings, and other industry‑specific compliance submissions.

+ Monitor adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.

+ Partner with compliance and risk teams to ensure accurate reporting of capital requirements, margin activity, and net capital computations.

Compensation package:

Salary - $70-90k

Bonus potential

Medical benefits - some plans 100% paid for, others pending preference of candidates

401k plan - Firm contributions on a profit-sharing basis

10 Vacation days + 5 sick days

Requirements

Required

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

+ 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial services, investment banking, broker‑dealer, or asset management environments.

+ Strong understanding of GAAP, financial instruments, and securities industry operations.

+ Advanced proficiency with Excel and familiarity with Quick Books.

+ Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
