Private Client Services Tax Supervisor

Job Overview

Withum’s Tax Services Group is a team of tax specialists that ensure tax reporting obligations are met accurately and timely while minimizing or deferring taxes. With extensive knowledge of international, U.S. federal, state, and local regulations and affiliation with HLB International, the team provides business, individual, state & local tax, R&D tax credit, international, and private client services. This Private Client Services Tax Supervisor role will be based in our Red Bank, NJ office and work with seasoned CPAs and industry leaders to lead audit engagements from planning to completion, supervise staff, and build client relationships.

• Review high net worth individual returns.
• Review fiduciary accountings for estates and trusts.
• Review complex gift, estate, and fiduciary income tax returns, including related schedules and forms.
• Provide tax planning and consulting to high net worth clients for estate and individual income taxes.
• Research and consult on various estate, gift, and trust related issues, such as trustee and beneficiary issues, Crummey obligations, and generation skipping tax issues.
• Identify additional estate and income tax planning opportunities for clients.
• Oversee billing and collections of clients.
• Manage, coach, and mentor staff, seniors, and supervisors.
• Research and draft memorandum involving complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Oversee complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and industries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly.
• Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Licensed CPA, or working toward CPA certification with parts passed.
• Masters of Science in Taxation is preferred but not required.
• At least 4 years of public accounting experience.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the firm well to client’s management.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, strong attention to detail, and proven innovative problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.

The compensation for this position ranges from $85,000–$140,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and a bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience and qualifications.
