The Physician Assistant or Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with RNFA assists, monitors, and manages the day‑to‑day needs of patients in the Neurosurgery Program under the supervision of a licensed physician. The role includes providing medical services, performing assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and managing general medical and surgical conditions in an inpatient setting with rotating weekends.
Responsibilities- Provide medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments appropriate to the patient’s age, gender, and clinical problem.
- Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies in collaboration with physicians and consultants.
- Manage general medical and surgical conditions, prescribing medication safely in accordance with hospital policy and NJ regulations.
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds, coordinate care, and serve as an advocate for patients and families.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical research activities, and educational programs for the multidisciplinary team.
- Completion of an approved physician assistant program or an accredited nurse practitioner program (MS or Doctorate).
PA: Physician Assistant License, National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, BLS AHA certification.
APN: NJ State Professional RN license, Advance Practice Nurse license, BLS AHA certification. - Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- For APNs:
Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration per New Jersey law, and a National Provider Identifier (NPI). - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred for both PA and APN candidates.
- RNFA certification preferred for APN candidates.
Minimum rate of $ annually. The posted rate is a reasonable estimate of the minimum base pay for this role. Total rewards include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
