Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III Trauma Emergency Department position requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Details
  • Acute care setting in a 15-bed Emergency Department with a 6-bed fast track open 9am-10pm
  • Level III Trauma Center
  • Patient ratios typically 1:4 depending on acuity
  • Common diagnoses include stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, psychiatric cases, and a wide variety of other presentations
  • Approximately 100 patient visits per day, including 500-600 pediatric visits per month
  • EMR:
    Cerner (First Net)
  • 12-hour night shifts on a 7-9, 9-9, 10-10, 11-11, or 2-2 rotation with schedules made 30-45 days in advance
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage worked into the permanent staff rotation
  • No floating required
  • Charge nurse takes a small patient load if needed
  • Unit secretary on-site 24/7 and tech coverage for 20 hours per day
  • Central monitor tech in ICU monitors ER telemetry strips (Phillips telemetry)
  • Ventilator management required
  • One physician on-site at all times, with midlevels typically 9am-2am
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
  • No IV team on-site
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license (Active State or Compact/NLC) required, pending licenses not accepted
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • COVID vaccine required
  • 3-5 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
  • Level III trauma experience or higher preferred
  • BSN not required
  • Cerner (First Net) EMR experience preferred
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity, high-volume Emergency Department
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Floor-specific orientation is 2-3 days on the unit
  • Facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; PRN work through outside staffing firms is acceptable
  • May be required to pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam and a sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes prior to or during orientation
