New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
Definition:- Performs scheduled and emergency building, equipment maintenance, and repair work on County Buildings and grounds.
- Installs and repairs wiring, switches, light ballasts, and other electrical systems. May perform diagnostic testing to determine maintenance needs as necessary.
- Performs light carpentry in the maintenance of assigned buildings. Repairs furniture, builds shelving units and assists in minor remodeling of buildings.
- Installs and repairs valves, faucets and pipes; clears clogged drains and performs other general plumbing and maintenance and installation work.
- Basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanics, welding, carpentry, masonry and painting methods and techniques.
- Operations, tools and terminology used in building and grounds maintenance.
- Methods used in the maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment.
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- Two (2) years experience in maintenance related field.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License &Special Requirements :
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by‑case basis.
- Other certification(s) specific to functional area of assignment may be required.
The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Facilities Maintenance Technician II, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
