OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Common Collection System – AB/YT, the Operations Summer Intern Yukon role will be responsible for supporting the daily activities within the Alberta/Yukon Operations Team. This includes but is not limited to coordinating and executing site inspections and administrative functions including scheduling, database management, and meeting support. This role has an active requirement for field work, for project data collection, doing site visits, and contract analysis throughout Yukon.
This position requires residency in, and ability for occasional travel within the Yukon.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinates and executes site inspections across the territory. Tracks and follow-ups on action items from inspections.
- Provides back‑up assistance in managing the operations mailbox including email management. Ensures timely responses to inquiries through the preparation of draft responses for staff review and approval.
- Works with staff to support their engagement with key stakeholders through the completion of important administrative tasks that drive day‑to‑day operations such as organizing and scheduling calls.
- Attends meetings to take minutes and later input action items into tracking system to allow for centralized monitoring of tasks assigned to team members.
- Assists with the development and execution of projects involving data collection through survey tabulation and field observations.
- Conducts data verification ensuring key details are logged in the tracking sheets and databases.
- Carries out internet and telephone data collection exercises to capture critical municipal and First Nation waste program delivery details.
- Manage files, informational resources, and databases on SharePoint.
- Identify best practices across operations to gain a more streamlined approach to the completion of day‑to‑day activities that drive operations.
- Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
- College and/or University studies in business, project management and/or waste management are an asset.
- Experienced in effectively resolving issues and fostering strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience in administrative, operational, and site inspections is an asset.
- Understanding of Yukon business practices, with ideal candidates living in the Yukon.
- Experienced in effectively resolving issues and fostering strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.

- Experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required to maintain professional communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills and time management.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- All CM employees work 40 hours per week.
- This position is primarily remote but will require occasional on‑site field study work across the Yukon Territory or in‑person meetings as required.
- Additional or flexible hours may occasionally be required during the May–August internship period to support operational needs.
- Candidates must be based in the Yukon and able to travel within the territory and to Alberta when needed.
- A valid driver’s license, comprehensive vehicle insurance, and a willingness to drive long distances are required.
- A salary of $14,700 for the 4‑month term.
- The salary listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects working full‑time hours.
- This is a new 4‑month internship role.
