Visual Art Instructor (2D – Painting, Drawing, Fundamentals) – Sessional (8.5 Months, Term Certain)

Responsibilities- Teach six studio courses on campus in Red Deer, Alberta, including:
- Fall 2026
- ART 1241 / ART 1243:
Drawing I and II - ART 1251:
Painting I - ART 2351 / ART 2353:
Drawing II and III with supervision of Independent Studies 3rd Year Students embedded in the course
- ART 1241 / ART 1243:
- Winter 2027
- ART 1251:
Painting I - ART 2351 / ART 2353:
Drawing II and III with supervision of Independent Studies 3rd Year Students embedded in the course
- ART 1251:
- Encourage student success in an engaging, supportive environment by being responsive to student needs and ideas
- Combine discipline expertise with evidence‑based teaching to facilitate effective and varied learning experiences
- Engage in continuous professional development and maintain currency in discipline and teaching practice
- Contribute to community engagement and disseminate knowledge that advances the discipline, enhances the reputation of Red Deer Polytechnic, and improves communities
- Required:
BFA in Painting - Preferred: MFA in Painting
- Knowledge and ability to teach introductory and intermediate Painting, Drawing, and 2D Fundamentals
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is a valuable asset:
- Contemporary and traditional two‑dimensional media including computer‑aided creation
- Digital media
- Graphic design
- Salary commensurate with education and experience
