Position Title
Event & Bar Attendant (Casual)
Position SummaryReporting to the Hospitality Services Coordinator, the Event & Bar Attendant is an enthusiastic, customer service driven position assisting on delivering, servicing and implementing Ancillary and Sport Services (ANSS) events across campus. The Event & Bar Attendant is responsible for maintaining client satisfaction during events, is diplomatic when dealing with clients and troubleshoots calmly and effectively. This position provides high-quality bartending and concession services during conferences and events that take place at the Red Deer Polytechnic Arts Centre, Gary W.
Harris Canada Games Centre, and a variety of additional venues across main campus. This position also assists ANSS with a variety of initiatives and projects as required in support of client service excellence.
- Performs all operations pertaining to user group bookings and events.
- Performs set‑up and take‑down of all equipment as required for each user group / event.
- Trained in basic AV tech to be able to troubleshoot all technology for each user group / event and ensures that clients are able to operate the technology properly.
- Meets and greets clients and ensures all aspects of their event runs smoothly.
- Liaises with internal and external contractors (including but not limited to: food services, janitorial services, security, etc.) to troubleshoot during events.
- Provides an excellent customer service experience to all internal and external user groups /clients.
- Prepares delegate conference packages, nametags, and staffs registration tables during conferences / events.
- Assists with décor creation and set up as needed.
- Reports to the Events Services Lead Attendant and/or Coordinator any issues and other feedback from the event.
- Supports ticketing services either in the box office or scanning of tickets as required.
- May be required to maintain a float, handle cash and perform a cashout at the end of a shift.
- Makes key customer service decisions that will exceed the expectations of user groups / clients.
- Ability to work independently when needed at events.
- Ensures the strict adherence to all institutional procedures and expectations during events.
- Listens to client concerns with empathy and acts appropriately with an empowered and customer experience driven response.
- The Attendant is trained to communicate Health and Safety procedures to all user groups / clients through their awareness, proactivity, and response to a wide variety of situations across campus.
- Moves equipment, furniture and other resources during an event as required to ensure client satisfaction in conjunction with event agreement.
- Presents self in a professional manner at all times. RDP logo wear will be supplied and appropriate dress must be worn.
- Provide quality, responsible bar service and concession service throughout Red Deer Polytechnic venues as required.
- Setting up and cleaning up bar service and concession service.
- Restocking and inventorying bar and concession items.
- During peak periods and/or unexpected absences, the Events Services Attendant will be trained to provide coverage for other positions as determined by the Director, Ancillary and Sport Services, Manager, Conference and Accommodation Services and Supervisor.
- Other tasks or projects as directed/requested by the Director, Ancillary and Sport Services, Manager, Conference and Accommodation Services and Supervisor.
- Provides campus tours when necessary.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schooling.
- AGLC Pro‑Serve
- Class 5 Driver's License
- Criminal Record Check

Hourly
Salary$17.98/ Hour
Benefits and Compensation InformationAn additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
