Field Operations Technician

Field Operations Technician at Xplore Inc. – A full‑time, permanent position based in Red Deer, Alberta.

Report to the Field Operations Manager and serve as the in‑field technical contact for network construction, repair, maintenance and support. This role requires on‑call support, off‑hours work, overnight travel and a flexible schedule.

• Integrate, repair and maintain Xplore’s fibre optic and 5G wireless network.
• Provide technical support to cross‑functional teams and field crews.
• Maintain network equipment, conduct troubleshooting and coordinate multiple priorities.
• Apply basic IP networking knowledge (addressing, routing).
• Construct and maintain telecom sites (fibre/copper cabling, tower rigging, ground systems, safety).
• Use an analytical approach to problem‑solve.
• Document and report incidents.

• 1 year of related work experience or a related degree/diploma.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Strong verbal, listening and written communication skills.
• Experience with fixed‑wireless and fibre‑optic network deployments.
• Experience configuring and installing network equipment (e.g., Ericsson, Ceragon, Alpha DC Power Systems, Ciena, Cisco).
• CFOT or equivalent certification is an asset.
• Experience with fibre‑optic tools & test sets (OTDR, power meters).
• Knowledge of networking technologies (TCP/IP, routers, switches, DHCP).
• Basic understanding of fixed‑wireless/fibre network architecture and infrastructure.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather, travel overnight and work evenings/weekends.
• Credit card for work‑related expenses.
