Position: Shop Technician - Truck and Transport )

Overview

The Shop Technician - Truck & Transport is responsible for delivering reliable repair, inspection, and preventative maintenance services for heavy‑duty trucks and transport equipment. Acts as a key point of coordination between sales, service, and operations to ensure vehicles and components are modified, inspected, tested, and released according to customer and regulatory requirements. Ensures all equipment meets or exceeds applicable safety and performance standards and is maintained in safe, road‑ready operating condition.

Responsibilities

Heavy Equipment Technicians work Monday to Friday with occasional overtime opportunities. Your expertise will be key in ensuring first‑time‑right diagnostics and repair of, but not limited to:

  • Allison transmissions
  • Detroit and MTU truck and industrial engines
Education
  • Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Technician
Work Experience
  • 2-3 years relevant experience
Knowledge & Skills
  • Safety focused
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Keep work areas, benches, and toolboxes clean and organized
  • Proven ability to work with customers, demonstrating exceptional customer service
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience with on‑highway truck/coach maintenance and repair is an asset
  • Coordinating with supervisors, administration, and workers for the purpose of completing all work orders efficiently and effectively
  • Work under limited supervision, leading, guiding and working with others, as required
  • Fill out required paperwork, including forms such as work orders, hazard assessment sheets, daily time sheets, and repair lists
  • Test, troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, and replace parts and equipment/controls as required
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance of all equipment or assets
  • CVIP license preferred but not mandatory
  • Class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement preferred, but not mandatory
