Job SummaryA Penske Technician I will diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment. This position demands a specialist who will perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner. Other projects and tasks may be assigned by supervisor.

- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or ensure they are working properly
- Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments, and power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks and hoists
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure proper operating condition
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
- Adjust and replace brake, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment
- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications
- Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting major components such as engine, transmissions, differentials, including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- 5+ years practical experience with tractor‑trailer maintenance
- Must possess provincial license such as Red Seal/310T
- Must maintain membership/registration with respective government agencies
- Current driver’s license class D or class 3 with air brake certification required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Proficiency in all tools of trade (welding, diagnostic, hand and power tools)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions
- Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training courses preferred
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function
- Willingness to travel within the district, work required schedule, specific location, complete employment application, submit to reference checks
- Regularly lift/move up to 12kg, frequently up to 23kg, occasionally up to 45kg
- Close, distance, peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus
- Regular standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing; frequent use of hands and arms
