Resident Heavy Equipment Field Technician – Red Deer

Position SummaryThe Resident Field Technician role offers a high level of independence and responsibility. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to grow professionally while playing a key role in expanding JT Equipment’s service presence in the region.
The Resident Technician is responsible for performing high‑quality repairs and maintenance on customer equipment while effectively managing workflow and building strong customer relationships on a daily basis. This is a working leadership position that combines hands‑on technical work with coordination responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Complete quality repairs and maintenance on a wide range of equipment in and around the Red Deer area.
- Manage daily service and parts workflow to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and professionally.
- Stay proactive with customer service needs to ensure JT Equipment continues to meet top‑tier service standards.
- Identify opportunities to support customers and contribute to dealership growth in the region.
- Develop strong knowledge across JT Equipment’s product lines including Wacker Neuson, Link‑Belt Excavators, Bandit Chippers, Engcon Tiltrotators, and Oil Quick quick coupling systems.
- Work closely with the regional sales territory manager to ensure customer needs are addressed effectively.
- Coordinate with the Calgary parts team to source parts quickly and efficiently.
- Perform construction equipment diagnostics and repairs.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential failures before they lead to downtime.
- Work with the PM Manager to offer preventative maintenance solutions to customers.
- Complete all service reporting, checklists, safety forms, etc., in a timely manner.
- Maintain a professional, organized, and safe work environment.
- Exceptional attitude and communication skills.
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent training.
- Minimum 3–5 years construction or relevant equipment experience in the Field.
- Management experience considered an asset.
- Comfortable using computers and diagnostic technology.
- Strong hydraulic and electrical diagnostic ability.
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- $47.00 – $55.00 per hour depending on experience.
