Position Title

Electrical Shop Technician – Electrician Program

Position Summary

The School of Trades and Technology is looking for a Trades Shop Technician in the Electrician program. The Electrical Shop Technician will provide self‑directed technical support for the day‑to‑day operations of the Electrical Labs and will be responsible for troubleshooting, solving problems, and supporting students and instructors by procuring materials, supplies, and equipment as well as installing, testing, and calibrating equipment.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot equipment in a modern lab setting.
  • Maintain and operate various electrical trainer stations.
  • Procure supplies and equipment.
  • Repair electrical and electronic equipment under tight timelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Trade certificate and/or 2‑year ASET‑creditable engineering technology in Electrical.
  • Experience troubleshooting in a modern lab setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Sound decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working successfully as part of a team or individually.
  • Willingness to learn and keep up to date on technology, and advance skills through courses and professional development opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with PLCs.
  • Experience in procurement.
Salary

$60,645 to $70,946 annually.

Benefits

An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
