Overview

Bar W Petroleum & Electric is a diverse contracting and service company serving the Industrial/Commercial Electrical Industry and the Downstream Petroleum Industry in Western Canada. Bar W was established in 1988 and is owned and operated by the United Farmers of Alberta since 2007.

Position Summary

Are you interested in becoming a Service Technician or do you have experience in the downstream maintenance, electrical, calibration and construction industry? Do you have knowledge of tank rental and mobile cardlock solutions? Bar W is the place for you. Reporting to the Service Manager
, you will be an integral part of our team performing electronic and mechanical repairs. You will conduct in-house and on-site repairs to our customers’ businesses while applying Bar W processes and regulations and working closely with our customers.

Our technicians specialize in the Retail/Commercial Gas Stations, Cardlock/Bulk Petroleum sites, carwashes, and Commercial/Industrial Electrical Services for maintenance and construction in Western Canada, Yukon & NWT.

What will you be doing
  • (In Training) Perform electronic and mechanical repairs including on-site and in-house repairs of equipment and technology.
  • (In Training) Installation, repair and preventative maintenance of all fuel dispensing and related equipment.
  • (In Training) Repair carwash operating equipment at various stations.
  • Maintain customer relationships by managing allocated calls to improve service and reduce costs. This includes planning for adequate tools and equipment necessary for efficient work.
  • Contribute to new ideas for operational and technical improvements to existing equipment and technology.
  • Complete all required documentation correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure safe practices are followed in accordance with Health and Safety policies and practices.
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience in mechanical and petroleum troubleshooting is an asset.
  • Required to complete and be certified in CPCA PM1 Training.
  • Fluent in operation of FSM mobile software operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about computerized machinery and proficient use of hand tools.
  • Proven strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid Class 5 license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance performance.
  • Ability to maintain a strong technical knowledge of assigned equipment through on-the-job training and training programs.
Work schedule
  • Our team focuses on work-life balance.
  • Required to work away from home and overnight as needed.
  • When scheduled, available to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for service calls.

This is a safety-sensitive position. The successful applicant will be required to pass a drug and alcohol screening (negative result) and a criminal background check (if applicable) as a condition of employment.
