Hours:

6 hours per week (school holidays only)

Hourly Rate of Pay: £13.00

Based at:
Employer’s own home in Red Lodge, Suffolk and out in the local community.

The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a 9 year old boy with severe autism, severe food aversion and sensory processing disorder. The child lives at home with his family. The child also has a PEG feed. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support his with all his needs.

The child loves outdoor activities, loves running and jumping and also likes a cuddle.

• To support with:
  Personal care e.g. washing, dressing and changing nappies.
• Constant supervision is required at all times.
• Support with all safety aspects, the child has no awareness road safety / safety awareness.
• To be a social friendly companion to the child.
• To support with sensory play, music, cuddling, jumping etc.
• Support and attend days out to trampoline parks, swimming, for example.
• Very active little boy so needs to have support at all times.
• The little boy has a PEG tube, so need to be comfortable or have experience with using a PEG.
• To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys.
• Supervising the child at meal times.
• To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

• Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
• Experience with caring for children is essential and experience with autism.
• Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
• You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
• Be patient and supportive.
