Job SummaryThe EH&S Coordinator I plays an essential role in establishing and promoting a culture of safety within the Mission Critical specific sites they are assigned, focusing on compliance with both internal EH&S policies and external regulatory requirements. This position involves overseeing safety protocols at a specific site, ensuring the site adheres to the highest standards of workplace safety and health. By conducting regular audits, providing training, and implementing EH&S programs, the EH&S Coordinator I works to minimize risks, reduce workplace accidents, and maintain a safe, healthy environment for all employees.
Through collaboration with various departments and site leadership teams, this role supports the organization’s commitment to safety, demonstrating the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding the well-being of its workforce.
- Oversee safety protocols at assigned Mission Critical sites to ensure compliance with internal EH&S policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections; develop corrective action plans as needed.
- Provide safety training and orientation for new and existing employees.
- Collaborate with site leadership and departments to identify hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain readiness for emergencies by understanding and communicating emergency response plans and procedures.
- Utilize safety management software and MS Office for documentation and reporting.
- Construction Site Safety Supervisor (CSSS), Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC), Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) or equivalent preferred; OSHA 30 required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in heavy industrial construction environments (e.g., data centers, manufacturing, pipeline, mining, food and beverage, power, or refining).
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, standards, and applicable codes/regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to assess hazards and risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Understanding of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
- Ability to understand and implement emergency response plans.
- Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels and with external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies and contractors.
- OSHA/MSHA certification or background preferred.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methods (e.g., JSA, HAZOP).
- Experience conducting safety audits or inspections.
- First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to respond to medical incidents.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience using safety management software for reporting and documentation.
- Climb stairs and ladders; stand and walk for extended periods.
- Traverse uneven terrain, trenches, excavations, and elevated platforms (scaffolding at heights).
- Lift equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver license and ability to travel; DMV background check may be required.
