Red Wing Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, community-focused American Indian Education Program Director to engage Native families, support Native students' academic success, and expand access to cultural learning across the district.

Note:

Requires schedule flexibility for periodic evening and weekend events/meetings, such as Parent Advisory Committee meetings or conferences)

Salary Range: $81,452.88 to $93,166.56 (based on Group B of the Program Supervisors Pay Schedule; See the attached documents for more information on pay and benefits)

As the Program Director, you will lead the district's American Indian Education Program, build bridges between schools and families, and manage program operations:

• Program Leadership & Community Engagement
• Facilitate and collaborate directly with the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) to create a district program plan based on the Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness Plan.
• Collaborate with the Prairie Island Indian Community, Cultural Liaisons, and Dakota Language teachers.
• Coordinate field trips, family cultural events, and programming for key events.
• Maintain regular family communications regarding learning activities, available resources, and upcoming community events.
• Keep the program website up-to-date with current information, photos, and AIPAC meeting minutes.
• Student Support & Academic Advocacy
• Provide college and career readiness resources and support to American Indian students.
• Support student needs by participating in Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504, and Pre-referral Intervention meetings as needed.
• Provide cultural insight to educators and Special Education IEP teams.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and the District Assessment Coordinator to identify student needs, track data, and ensure consistent intervention support.
• Administration, Budget, & Curriculum
• Manage the American Indian Education Program budget.
• Complete all required State and Federal funding paperwork.
• Compile quality K-12 curriculum resources and work with the Teaching & Learning team to design learning experiences centered on American Indian culture, history, and ways of knowing.
• Assist in finding or providing professional development for classroom teachers on culturally responsive instruction.
• Represent Red Wing Public Schools at quarterly Metro Indian Education Gatherings and participate in the MDE Dream Catcher Program.

Education & Experience Required

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education/Knowledge:
Advanced college degree and/or deep cultural knowledge/skills cultivated outside institutional college settings. Related

Experience:

Extensive knowledge of Native culture, history, tribal government, and ways of life, along with experience working with Native communities.

Preferred Experience:

Experience managing budgets, working with youth, and knowledge of Indigenous languages.

Skills & Abilities Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. Ability to build meaningful relationships with young people across diverse academic needs and advocate effectively within public school systems. Analytical and project management skills to handle benchmarks, budgets, and state/federal reporting. Comfort with standard office technology. A valid CPL driver's license or willingness to attain one is preferred.

Physical & Mental Demands Mobility to work in office and classroom settings, use standard equipment, and stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel to various school locations throughout the District.
