Masters Clinical Intern — Supervised Child & Family Therapy

Job Summary

Fernbrook Family Center provides internships for Masters level students in Social Work, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and related fields. Interns work under the direct supervision of a qualified site supervisor. All services provided by the Intern are reviewed by the supervisor, including written work such as assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, as well as interactions with clients. Interns engage in clinical and non‑clinical activities that align with their discipline and meet the learning requirements of their program.

Interns must not supervise other employees. They must coordinate services with other Fernbrook employees who share caseloads.

• Provide psychotherapy and/or skills services to children, adults, and families
• Conduct diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility for services
• Complete documentation according to content and quality standards
• Collaborate and consult with internal and external providers
• Actively seek supervisory consultation and direction as needed
• Complete mandatory trainings for skill maintenance or enhancement
• Attend staff meetings and group supervision in a manner that meets responsibilities

• Prolonged periods of sitting, listening, observing, and computer work
• Physical stamina to work consistently with children and adults with varying needs
• Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds

• Hours are flexible and generally occur between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm
• Interns must travel to clients’ homes, community settings, Fernbrook offices, and other locations
• Number of hours depends on internship requirements
• Interns may work up to 40 hours per week; hours beyond 40 must be pre‑approved for overtime by supervisor

• Must be enrolled in an accredited master’s degree program related to Social Work, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other related fields
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and an acceptable driving record
• Must pass a criminal background check mandated by the agency and the Department of Human Services

• Experience working with children, adults, and families
• Bilingual proficiency
