The registered nurse (RN) on the 25‑bed gastrointestinal/medical unit in Domitilla 6D (DO6D) is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care, addressing medical GI disorders such as GI bleeding, liver failure, hepatobiliary dysfunction, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and patients on home parenteral nutrition.

The role emphasizes discharge planning, patient education, and a holistic nursing approach for a diverse patient population with multiple comorbidities.

Additional duties include leadership activities such as serving as preceptor, participating in quality improvement efforts, mentoring, and occasional committee or project involvement. The RN may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of the position. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship; successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of the Visa Screen or equivalent certification.

New graduate nurses should apply through the Nurse Residency Program. The program is designed to support new graduate RNs and provides a foundation for their nursing careers.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
• One year of RN experience required.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on‑call.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.
• Become a current RN license in the applicable state and BLS certification valid for 90 days post‑start. Acceptable certifications include AHA/Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, and Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers.
• Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Pay range: $43.84 – $66.84 per hour. Mayo Clinic offers an innovative nursing compensation model that rewards experience, education, and dedication, combined with a competitive tuition reimbursement program.
