Position OverviewThe 3D Modeler & Texture Artist is responsible for creating high-quality 3D models and textures for use in game development, including characters, environments, and props.
This role ensures that assets are visually compelling, optimized, and compatible with Unity or other game engines.
Operating at the intersection of 3D modeling, texturing, and real-time asset optimization
, this role is critical to delivering immersive and visually engaging game experiences.
- Create 3D models using Blender, including:
- Characters
- Environments
- Props
- Ensure models are clean, accurate, and production-ready
- Develop textures and materials for models
- Apply UV mapping and texture workflows
- Ensure visual consistency across assets
- Optimize models for real-time performance, including:
- Polygon count
- Topology
- Texture sizes
- Ensure assets are efficient for game engines
- Prepare assets for use in Unity or similar engines
- Ensure compatibility with:
- Lighting
- Shaders
- Animation systems (if applicable)
- Work with:
- Technical artists
- Developers
- Designers
- Ensure assets meet technical and gameplay requirements
- Follow established art direction and style guides
- Maintain consistency across all assets
- Ensure high visual quality
- Revise models based on feedback
- Improve assets through iteration
- Adapt to changing project needs
- Maintain organized asset files
- Follow naming conventions and workflows
- Document asset requirements as needed
- Adjust assets based on:
- Technical limitations
- Performance requirements
- Balance visual quality with efficiency
- Improve modeling and texturing techniques
- Stay current with industry tools and practices
- Enhance overall asset quality
- Estimated Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
- Flexible schedule
- Participation in art and development meetings required
- Fully remote
- 1–3 years of experience in:
- 3D modeling
- Texturing
- Strong skills in:
- Blender
- Understanding of:
- UV mapping
- Basic texturing workflows
- Experience with:
- Game asset pipelines
- Unity or other game engines
- Experience in collaborative or remote teams
- Experience creating assets for games (indie or academic)
- Creates accurate and clean models
- Builds production-ready assets
- Develops visually compelling textures
- Ensures consistency
- Balances quality and performance
- Prepares assets for real-time use
- Maintains quality and precision
- Follows guidelines and standards
- Works with artists and developers
