O2 Employment Services is partnering with a respected local nonprofit organization to find their next Accounting Specialist. Accounting Specialist – Compensation & Schedule
  • $27.00 – $37.00 per hour (DOE)
  • Full-time, Non-Exempt
  • Long-term opportunity
  • Three (3) weeks of paid vacation annually
  • Paid week off between Christmas and New Year's

Accounting Specialist – Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable, ACH transactions, check payments, and corporate credit card transactions
  • Review invoices for accuracy, approvals, grant compliance, and proper coding
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, payroll accounts, and subsidiary ledgers
  • Support payroll processing, payroll allocations, and benefit reconciliations
  • Maintain vendor files, W-9 documentation, and annual 1099 reporting
  • Maintain fixed asset and inventory records
  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial close processes
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for annual audits, financial reporting, and monitoring reviews
  • Utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate financial records
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff, vendors, funding agencies, and external partners
  • Perform other related accounting duties as assigned
Accounting Specialist – Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, grant accounting, governmental funding, or federally funded programs highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with accounting software; MIP Fund Accounting experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities with accuracy

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work
  • Occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform detailed work requiring close visual focus
