ABOUT USJefferson State Highways, Inc. (JSH) is a California-licensed general engineering and specialty contractor (CSLB #1055876, Class A and C-13) based in Redding. Our construction division specializes in drainage, underground utilities, and civil infrastructure, including Caltrans and public agency contracts across Northern California. This is a newly developed division in growing company which means there is flexibility and ability to help shape and grow this division.
POSITIONOVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to lead our civil and drainage construction projects from bid through completion. This role combines estimating, project oversight, and client/agency coordination. The ideal candidate has a strong background in drainage systems and underground work and can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced public-works environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and bid proposals for drainage, underground utility, and civil infrastructure projects
- Manage projects through full lifecycle: scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and field execution
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents (including Caltrans standards)
- Coordinate with project engineers, foremen, subcontractors, and material suppliers
- Track project costs, change orders, submittals, and progress billing
- Ensure compliance with safety, prevailing wage, and contract requirements
- Maintain client and agency relationships
- 7+ years of construction project management and/or estimating experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with drainage and underground construction
- Knowledge of civil infrastructure and public-works contracting (Caltrans experience a plus)
- Proficiency in estimating software, takeoff tools, and project management systems
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Valid driver's license
Salary: $90,000–$140,000 per year, based on experience + Project Bonus Incentives
