Pre-Construction Engineer​/Estimator

Overview

O2 Employment Services is working with a reputable construction company to find their next Pre-Construction Engineer/Estimator. This position is based in Redding, CA.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and organized with experience in construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, and preconstruction planning. This individual will enjoy working with project drawings, budgets, subcontractors, and internal teams to help ensure projects are well-planned before construction begins.

• $60,000 – $85,000 annually, depending on experience

• 2+ years of construction estimating, preconstruction, project engineering, or related construction experience preferred
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, bid solicitation, subcontractor pricing, and scope review preferred
• Familiarity with commercial, multifamily, modular, design-build, or general contracting environments is a plus
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience with estimating, takeoff, or project management software preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Review project drawings, specifications, and scopes to prepare accurate estimates
• Complete quantity takeoffs, conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and cost comparisons
• Assist with subcontractor bidding, proposal reviews, and bid package preparation
• Identify cost risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, vendors, and subcontractors throughout preconstruction
• Prepare estimate summaries, bid tabs, budgets, and supporting documentation
• Track pricing updates, subcontractor responses, and outstanding preconstruction items
• Support project handoffs by maintaining organized files and accurate scope documentation
• Help improve estimating processes, templates, and cost databases
