Shasta College Dental Hygiene Program Instructor

The Shasta College Dental Hygiene Program is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Dental Hygiene Instructor to join our dynamic dental hygiene faculty. The successful candidate will provide clinical instruction and supervision to dental hygiene students, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the development of competent, ethical, and professional entry-level dental hygienists.
This position requires an instructor who demonstrates consistency and teaching calibration to maintain alignment with program competencies, clinical evaluation criteria, and institutional goals. The ideal candidate will actively contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on student success, program integrity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision to dental hygiene students in pre-clinical and clinical settings.
- Evaluate student performance consistently and in accordance with established program rubrics and calibration standards.
- Maintain calibrated teaching and assessment methods that align with the goals of the Dental Hygiene Program and faculty team.
- Participate in faculty calibration sessions to ensure fairness, consistency, and standardization in student evaluation and clinical instruction.
- Support the integration of evidence-based practice and critical thinking in clinical education.
- Foster teamwork, professionalism, and ethical practice among students and colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with all program, institutional, and accreditation standards (e.g., CODA, DHBC, OSHA and HIPPA regulations).
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and program assessment activities to support ongoing program growth and accreditation.
Classification:
Placement on the current Faculty Salary Schedule is commensurate with previous education and experience.
- Full-time instructional faculty are contracted to work 175 days per year including 164 days of classroom instruction and 11 days of professional growth and development. Instructors enjoy up to 18 weeks off per year during the summer and winter intercessions. The Fall and Spring semesters each contain 17 weeks of instruction with approximately 82 instructional days. The Fall semester begins in late August and ends in mid-December.
The Spring semester begins in mid-January and ends in mid-May. The number of hours worked in any given day during a semester will vary based on course schedules. - This position is Instructional faculty.
- Starting Salary: $63,500.44 - $/year on the Full-Time Faculty Salary Schedule

- $2,000/year doctorate differential

This position is anticipated to start the beginning of the Spring 2027 semester. May be expected to teach online.
