Medical Hematologist/Oncologist Locum Opportunity (California)
A facility in Redding, California is seeking a Medical Hematologist/Oncologist to provide coverage in an outpatient chemotherapy and infusion center with hospital consult responsibilities. The provider will serve as a solo physician supported by a midlevel provider and clinical staff, overseeing both clinic operations and infusion services. The role includes managing all aspects of hematology and oncology care including diagnosis, staging, precision medicine, symptom management, and treatment planning.
The infusion center provides chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transfusions, hormone therapy, antibiotic therapy, rheumatoid arthritis injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies, with physician presence required during treatments.
The position follows a Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule, with hospital consults and call responsibilities as needed. The provider will collaborate with ER physicians and hospitalists for admissions and patient management. The facility uses iKnowMed for clinic documentation and Cerner for infusion services. The average patient volume is approximately patients and admissions per day, covering all tumor types.
