Position and Responsibilities- As an Instructional Aide
, you’ll support students in Grades K-12 by providing personalized support, supervision and guidance in the classroom and in community settings. - Collaborate with classroom educators to implement each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and tailor instruction to their learning needs.
- Assist with delivering engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions aligned with each student’s goals.
- Instruct and monitor students during lessons, applying targeted strategies to enhance comprehension and course completion.
- Track student progress, communicate with teachers about successes and areas needing intervention.
- Support behavior management consistent with school policies, in collaboration with teachers.
- Mentor students facing academic challenges and help develop essential community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
- Document student behaviors and performance clearly and timely, and provide actionable observations to staff.
- Assist with preparation of behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and related documentation.
- Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors and families regarding needs, achievements and concerns, in partnership with teachers and administration.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information at all times.
- Participate in assurance and accreditation activities and school-wide meetings to support educational outcomes.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support student success and the overall effectiveness of the educational community.
- High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
- Associate degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.
- Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a state driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain PCM (crisis management) certification.
- Paraprofessional/teaching assistant credential preferred.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting.
- Experience with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities and/or challenging behaviors.
- Comfortable driving or riding in a company van with students before and/or after school.
- Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
- Proficiency in motivating students and engaging in constructive conversations to move them toward goals.
- Strong oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
