The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) serves a diverse student population and strives for equity and student success. As a full-time instructor, you will teach classes and participate in processes that improve instruction and programs, student success and completion, and advance the college mission.
Typical duties
- Full-time instructional faculty are contracted to work 175 days per year, including 164 days of classroom instruction and 11 days of professional growth and development.
- Instructors have up to 18 weeks off per year during summer and winter intersessions;
Fall and Spring each contain about 17 weeks of instruction with approximately 82 instructional days. - Schedule and load may vary by course; the District academic calendar is available on the college website.
- Starting Salary: $63,500.44 - $/year on the Full-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary Range: $63,500.44 - $/year on the Full-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- $2,000/year doctorate differential; STRS retirement.
- Position anticipates starting Fall 2026; may include online and/or Tehama Campus assignments.

Specific ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities designated below are primary to the instructor role.
Classroom Responsibilities:
- Meet classes and laboratories as assigned within the academic calendar.
- Develop and implement instruction for each class and laboratory period, aligned with official course outlines and District guidelines.
- For online and hybrid courses, maintain online course components and provide regular student contact.
- Distribute a syllabus during the first week of class outlining course description, objectives, grading, attendance, and requirements.
- Provide timely feedback and return graded work promptly.
- Assign final grades in accordance with District policy, California Education Code, and Title 5.
- Respect student rights as specified by District policy and applicable laws.
- Submit requisitions for textbooks and instructional materials timely and consider cost to students.
- Refer students to tutoring and related services when appropriate.
- Supervise students during off-campus activities when required by course or instructor load.
- Provide academic assistance during scheduled office hours.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the discipline.
- Submit administrative paperwork, including student learning outcomes, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Discipline-specific classroom responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Schedule and communicate office hours clearly to students and division staff.
- Participate in governance and committees; contribute to curriculum review and program planning.
- Participate in course development, program review, and annual planning; assist in hiring processes as needed.
- Attend department and division meetings; assess and report on learning outcomes.
- Engage in professional development to improve pedagogy and student success.
- Meet all flex requirements and participate in evaluation processes per the faculty bargaining agreement.
- Maintain official records; comply with district policies on property and safety.
- Report absences to the supervising administrator; propose purchases of instructional supplies and equipment as needed.
- Fulfill all obligations as established in the current collective bargaining agreement and any discipline-specific responsibilities.
