DescriptionOf Basic Functions And Responsibilities
Under administrative leadership, it is the responsibility of the full-time college instructor to teach classes and participate in processes that improve instruction and programs, student success, and the college mission and values.
Classification: Placement on the current Faculty Salary Schedule is commensurate with education and experience.
- Full-time instructional faculty are contracted to work 175 days per year including 164 days of classroom instruction and 11 days of professional growth and development. Instructors may have up to 18 weeks off per year during summer and winter intercessions. The Fall and Spring semesters each contain 17 weeks of instruction with approximately 82 instructional days. The Fall semester begins in late August and ends in mid-December.
The Spring semester begins in mid-January and ends in mid-May. The number of hours worked in a day varies based on course schedules. The District’s academic calendars are available at: https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./ - This position is Instructional faculty.
- Starting Salary: $63,500.44 - $/year on the Full-Time Faculty Salary Schedule

This position is anticipated to start the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester. May be expected to teach online and/or at the Tehama Campus in Red Bluff. SUPERVISOR:
Dean of Business, Agriculture, & Career Technical Education or designee
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities designated below are primary to the instructor role.
Classroom Responsibilities
- Meet classes/laboratories as assigned within the academic calendar.
- Develop and implement instruction for each class and laboratory period, consistent with the official course outline and District guidelines.
- For online and hybrid courses, maintain online course components, including asynchronous or synchronous content delivery as required by the teaching assignment.
- For online and hybrid courses, provide regular student-student and student-instructor contact.
- During the first week of class, distribute a syllabus for each course to communicate course description, objectives, grading, testing, attendance, and other requirements in accordance with District guidelines on syllabus content.
- Provide regular, timely feedback to students; return all graded work promptly.
- Assign final grades for courses as required by District policy, administrative procedures, California Education Code, and Title 5.
- Demonstrate respect for student rights as specified in District policy and applicable laws.
- Submit requisitions for textbooks and instructional materials in a timely manner with consideration of cost to the student.
- Refer students to tutoring and related student services when appropriate.
- Supervise students in off-campus activities when participation is part of a course requirement or supervision is part of the load.
- Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
- Participate in professional development to remain current in the assigned discipline.
- Submit required administrative paperwork, including student learning outcomes, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Discipline-specific classroom responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- Schedule and maintain office hour days and times and clearly communicate them to students in all classes and to division staff.
- Participate in participatory governance through District committees.
- Participate in curriculum review, develop new courses in response to student or community needs.
- Participate in program review and annual planning.
- Participate in selection (hiring) processes, as needed.
- Attend and participate in department and division meetings.
- Assess learning outcomes and participate in outcomes processes.
- Participate in required professional development to improve pedagogy and student success.
- Develop professional skills and stay current in subject matter knowledge.
