The Credential Analyst, under the general supervision of the Dean of the School of Education, is responsible for providing candidates with information and guidance about credentialing requirements and to ensure that the University follows the laws, rules, and regulations of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for the teacher credential program. The Credential Analyst performs complex and specialized technical assignments to assure a broad range of credentialing functions that include reviewing, analyzing, evaluating, and recommending applications for public school teaching credentials.

The Credential Analyst serves as a resource to provide current information to students, staff, and faculty on matters regarding State credential requirements and University policies and procedures. In coordination with the Dean and Program Directors, this position provides academic advising to student candidates in the School of Education, oversees the implementation of processes and procedures for recommending California teacher credentials for candidates, and reports data related to credentials at a state and federal level.

Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a team
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Strong writing, reading, grammar and spelling skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, and informational documents
  • Skills and ability to develop creative solutions to general problems
  • Ability to creatively engage in problem-solving
  • Experience in California Teacher Credentialing/Accreditation processes and systems a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Teams, One-Drive, etc.).
  • Familiarity with LMSs such as Canvas and can integrate new programs as required.
  • Ability to communicate with students, faculty, and school & district administrators.
  • Personal relationship with Jesus, a vibrant Christian faith, and a commitment to Christian community; capable of sharing faith and engaging in conversations about Christ.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of:
    • CTC regulations, procedures, and requirements
    • Requirements for credential and master’s programs
    • Laws, rules, and regulations related to teacher education and the granting of credentials for public school service in CA.
    • Simpson’s Graduate Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid procedures, policies, and academic requirements relating to the School of Education’s programs.
    • School of Education’s course offerings, course sequencing, policies and procedures related to the academic advising of candidates.
  • Academic evaluation, analysis, and recommendation for candidates enrolled, completing, or seeking admission to credential and master’s programs:
    • Evaluation and recommendation of Simpson candidate’s credential applications
    • Evaluation and review of candidate’s status within the credential programs
    • Evaluation of transcripts for candidates to determine coursework equivalencies and graduate level course transfers
    • Evaluate coursework for Basic Skills and Subject Matter requirements. Process 41-BSR forms for submission to the CTC.
