Brief Description
The Department of Communication & Digital Media at Simpson University invites applications for a full‑time Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication and Digital Media. The faculty member will teach in‑person courses that may include Oral Communication, Small Group, Communication Theory, Public Relations, Media & Culture, Communication Ethics, Nonverbal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Media Writing, Sports Communication, Advanced Public Communication, Communication & Organizational Leadership, and Communicating Cross Culturally.
Depending on the candidate’s strengths, other courses may be taught including Argumentation & Debate, Philosophy & Critical Thought, Convergent Media, and Newspaper Practicum. A commitment to the integration of faith into teaching, scholarship, and service at a Christian liberal arts institution is an essential quality of Simpson University faculty.
- Terminal degree in Communication, Digital Media, or a related discipline. Master’s degree considered.
- Evidence of teaching excellence utilizing a variety of teaching modalities.
- Experience working with a diverse student population and a commitment to inclusion and belonging.
- A personal commitment to Christ and an ability to integrate faith into teaching, scholarship and service at a Christian liberal arts institution.
- A promising research agenda that supports undergraduate education is desirable.
- Personal relationship with Jesus, a vibrant Christian faith, and a commitment to Christian community; capable of sharing faith and engaging in conversations about Christ.

- Supervise employees in accordance with Simpson University policies and procedures.
- Support the overflow needs of other departments within the respective university area.
- Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
- Teach 12 units of undergraduate courses each fall and spring semester.
- Prepare and teach undergraduate introductory and upper‑level communication and digital media courses.
- Utilize Canvas for course management and delivery of content.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the communication and digital media major.
- Provide department support for curriculum design, assessment of the degree program, and student recruitment.
- Serve on faculty committees.
- Attend department meetings and professional development activities.
- Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.
Sitting for long periods of time using a computer. Light lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional tasks requiring bending, reaching, and standing.
Salary: $70,304 per annum
