Supervisory General Engineer

Job Title

This position oversees the Northern California Area Office's (NCAO) operations and maintenance program, providing guidance and direction for the operation of 6 powerplants and 9 dams. The position works directly with the Central Valley Operations Office and power customers.

Duties include:

• Oversees, directs, and enhances the effective Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of NCAO facilities by identifying, prioritizing, and scheduling O&M activities.
• Establishes program goals and tracks actual program accomplishment against established schedules and budgets.
• Manages the automated maintenance management system (MAXIMO/CARMA) used to document, track and report data related to O&M activities.
• Provides for hydraulic, structural, and system analyses of facilities to evaluate the continuing ability to meet current and future needs through modified operations and improved operational efficiency.
• Responsible for all civil, electrical, mechanical and related maintenance, including testing and installation of facilities equipment.
• Oversees and determines maintenance and test schedules to provide adequate, efficient and safe operation of the equipment and systems.
• Provides oversight for the NCAO Safety of Dams and Associated Facilities/Reserved Works inspection, surveillance, and instrumentation programs.
• Serves as both a first and second level supervisor to a staff of professional, technical, administrative and dam/power plant operations and maintenance functions.
• Coordinates and collaborates with other Reclamation and Interior offices, and various Federal, State, and local entities on the policies and direction of NCAO's water and power supply operations.
• Represents management in Union negotiations and activities.
