The City of Redding is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager in the Environmental Management Division of the Public Works Department.
We are looking for someone to
- Help Departments ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
- Manage the City's Storm Water Management Program, including industrial, construction, and municipal activities and operations within the City.
- Make decisions regarding the appropriate type of environmental documentation and procedures for public and private projects in concert with the City Engineer, Development Services Director, Municipal Utilities Director, and others as appropriate
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications we re looking for
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of environmental planning and development.
- Current literature, information services, and research techniques in the field of environmental coordination.
- Modern office methods, practices, procedures, and computer equipment.
Ability to:
- Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Interpret and explain environmental programs to the general public.
- Perform professional environmental work with minimal supervision.
- Negotiate and develop contracts and agreements.
Education, Experience & Special Requirements:
- Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, geology, hydrology, engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in managing environmental compliance programs for a public agency or private firm to include significant experience of demonstrated supervisory and/or project management responsibility.
