We are seeking a Locum Tenens Physician Assistant in Redding, California.

Position Details: Trauma Service APP coverage. Trauma/Critical Care experience required. The provider will support the trauma surgeon on call and be responsible for monitoring, managing, and discharging patients on the trauma service. Few to zero pediatric patients are expected.
Patient Population: Trauma patients; approximately 20–25 ICU patients per provider per day
Setting: Level II Trauma Center
Responsibilities: Take patient histories, perform physical examinations and assessments, initiate and revise treatment plans, order and perform appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, recognize situations requiring immediate physician attention, counsel patients, coordinate admissions and continuing care, facilitate referrals, administer medications, and manage trauma service patients.
Required Procedures: Local anesthesia; laceration repair; dressing changes; drain removal; suture removal; debridement and closure of wounds; superficial wound debridement; basic management of non-displaced fractures; removal of superficial foreign bodies; hemostasis; packing insertion/removal; incision and drainage; cervical spine clearance; chest tube removal; burn management for partial thickness burns less than 10%; intermediate laceration repair; arterial line insertion; fracture reductions with minimal or moderate displacement;
reduction of simple dislocations; central line insertion; chest tube insertion.

Support Staff: One other Trauma NP/PA working the day shift, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Days Per Month:
October 7;
October 20–21;
October 30–31;
November 1–4;
November 7–15;
November 23–24;
November 30;
December 1–2;
December 7–9;
December 14–16;
December 21–26;
December 31.
On-Call/Weekends: Weekend requirements may be part of the schedule. No on-call requirement.
Requirements:
- NCCPA Certified – Required
- Active California license – Required
- CA DEA, ACLS, ATLS, BLS – Required
- Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital – Required
