The job of Custodian II is done for the purpose/s of performing various grounds maintenance, custodial and general maintenance activities involved in maintaining County Office building, facilities, grounds and equipment in a clean, orderly safe and secure condition; and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events. This job reports to the Assigned Administrator/Supervisor.

• Alters, paints, repairs, or constructs furniture and articles and structures (e.g. doors, tables, chairs, desks, walls, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items and maintaining a safe and attractive environment.
• Assists with maintaining electrical and HVAC & R systems, equipment and fixtures (e.g. install and make routine repairs to electrical wiring, switches, outlets, plugs, fixtures and other electrical parts and accessories; test, maintain and replace filters, fans and belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe and operational working environment.
• Attends trainings and safety meetings (e.g. use of pesticides, weed and grass spraying, etc.) for the purpose of developing professional trade and safety skills and learning current updated policies and procedures.
• Cleans assigned facilities and grounds (e.g. sinks, fixtures, urinals, toilets, disinfects drinking fountains and restroom facilities, cafeterias, lounges, offices, hallways, kitchens, multipurpose rooms, etc.) for the purpose of preparing site for daily operations and maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary environment.
• Maintains various records related to inspections, supply inventories, maintenance and assigned activities for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
• Operates a variety of equipment (e.g. mowers, edgers, weed eaters, vacuums, mops, fork lifts, blowers, various hand and power tools, carpet cleaners, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining building and grounds in a neat, clean safe and sanitary condition.
• Performs minor plumbing duties as assigned (e.g. inspect and repair leaks, obstructions and general system failures in faucets, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, sinks and various other fixtures; adjust sprinkler settings and irrigation systems, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring equipment and components are in proper working order.
