Overview
Senior Custodian – Redding, CA. University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources. Under supervision, the incumbent performs cleaning and housekeeping of buildings and exterior areas, including classrooms, auditoriums, administrative offices, waiting areas and restrooms, using various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants. Follows established infection-control practices to ensure a clean and safe environment. May oversee biohazardous waste disposal procedures and quality standards. Monitors inventory and inspects equipment for repair and replacement.
Work may include trash and recycling removal and meeting room setup. The position involves management, long-range planning, organization, coordination, oversight and/or performance of multiple operational activities and services for one or more buildings, including space planning, general maintenance, specialized facility systems and operations, call center triage and tracking of repair services, move planning and coordination, development of procedures, policies and communications related to infrastructure and safety.
This position is a limited term appointment that is 10% variable.
Pay Scale: $20.53/hour to $23.10/hour

Key Responsibilities- 40%:
Sweep and mop stairs, hallways and outside areas. Dust, clean, wax and/or polish furniture, woodwork, light fixtures, venetian blinds, grills, ducts, whiteboards, filing cabinets and other designated equipment areas. - Empties wastebaskets and recycling containers. Mop, clean and disinfect restrooms and shower rooms, with responsibility to replenish supplies.
- Wash doors, glass, mirrors, showcases, glass panels, inside and outside windows at ground level. Polish metal fixtures, wastebaskets and other receptacles.
- 40%:
Unclog minor drain stoppages. Vacuum rugs, upholstered furniture, or other designated materials. - Operate floor buffers, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, waxers, and floor scrubbing/polishing machines during stripping, waxing, buffing and related cleaning operations.
- Have security responsibility for one or more assigned areas. Assist in setting up and dismantling of special equipment d and/or unload large trash receptacles.
- 20%:
Security responsibility for one or more assigned areas. Act as a work leader for a small group of Custodians (usually less than
5). Make reports on building and/or equipment needs.
- Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic calculations, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Six months of experience in a custodial cleaning operation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed; proof of liability insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.
- The University reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check. This is a designated position requiring a background check and may require fingerprinting due to the nature of the job responsibilities.
