One SAFE Place seeks an Executive Director: a mission-driven leader and skilled collaborator to steward our organization into its next chapter. You will inherit a prepared foundation: a stabilized organization with strengthened operations, a dedicated team grounded in trauma-informed practice, newly implemented systems and infrastructure, and an engaged leadership team committed to your success.

One SAFE Place has invested deeply in organizational health: we have built administrative capacity, refined our service delivery model, and created clarity around governance and strategic direction. This is not a crisis turnaround role; this is an opportunity to lead a survivor-centered organization that is ready to grow, deepen impact, and sustain excellence.

As Executive Director, you will report directly to the Board of Directors and hold overall responsibility for strategic direction, operational excellence, financial health, and community integration of our comprehensive service continuum, emergency shelter, client intake, transitional housing, 24-hour crisis hotline, and legal services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking. You will translate organizational vision into measurable outcomes, cultivate the partnerships and funding streams essential for sustainability, and foster a culture where both staff and survivors know they belong and matter.

You will not do this alone: you will work alongside a capable leadership team, an engaged board, and a partner organization (Children's Legacy Center) invested in your success.

Board Governance & Relations
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors: support board meetings and committee work, and provide timely, transparent reporting on finances, programs, outcomes, personnel, and risk
  • Partner with the board in governance, strategic planning, and board development, and support onboarding of new board members
Fund Development & Financial Stewardship
  • Along with your team, help lead fundraising and revenue development across local, state, and federal funding streams, including identifying, cultivating, and stewarding grants, donors, and strategic partnerships, and participating in fundraising events
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the annual organizational budget in coordination with the Finance team
  • Serve as the Authorized Representative for all One SAFE Place grants; execute grant subawards, amendments, and related documents (including Cal OES subawards) as authorized by the Board of Directors; and ensure compliance with all funder requirements, reporting deadlines, and audit obligations
Program Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of all One SAFE Place programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, internal policies, and appropriate staffing levels
  • Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate policies and procedures that promote client safety, trauma-informed practice, and staff well-being
  • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of all program records, including client files and statistical data required for audits and fidelity reviews
  • Oversee facilities, safety, and risk management across all sites, maintaining the confidentiality and security of shelter and program locations
