Job Summary

The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients and newborns in a high-volume Family Birthing Center. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to manage both low- and high-risk deliveries in an acute care setting with a Level III NICU.

• Shift: 12-hour Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule Notes:
  • Every other weekend (EOW)
  • First to float
  • Shift times: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

• Beds:
  • 19 Postpartum
  • 12 L&D
  • 2 Operating Rooms
  • 1 PACU
• Staffing Ratios: 1:4 to 1:1 (California ratios followed)
• Charge Coverage:
  • Clinical Supervisor: 6–7 days/week
  • Staff Team Lead
  • Nurse Manager:
    Monday–Friday
• Support Services:
  • RT 24/7
  • Pharmacy 24/7
  • OB Hospitalist/Laborist on-site 24/7

• Provide care for laboring, delivery, postpartum, and newborn patients
• Manage low- and high-risk deliveries
• Monitor fetal heart tracings using Phillips FHM system
• Collaborate with OB physicians, anesthesia, NICU, and multidisciplinary teams
• Float to Pediatrics (couplets) or NICU (feeders/growers only with prior experience) as needed
• Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, and hospital protocols

• Experience: Minimum 2 years L&D experience
• License: Active RN license required at submission
• Education: BSN not required
• Traveler Eligibility: Must pass onsite proctored Dysrhythmia Test (PASS/FAIL on Day
  1)
