Position Summary
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) extra help position is located at 2650 Breslauer Way, Redding, CA 96001. The role provides assistance to nurses and doctors in patient care, administers prescribed medications and treatments, and performs related duties as required. This position requires a set schedule and primarily the location at Breslauer Public Health Clinic.
Salary$26.10 - $33.32 approximate hourly*
Responsibilities- Assist nurses and doctors in providing responsible patient care, including administering prescribed medications and treatments.
- Collect and administer urine specimens for drug testing of adult, and at times, minor clients at the Breslauer Public Health Clinic, and safely store, ship, and enter data regarding specimens.
- Prepare patients for examination, treatment, or surgery.
- Observe patient and record symptoms, bath, feed, and provide general bedside care.
- Monitor progress of cases and outcomes of medical and nursing treatments.
- Report unusual occurrences and conditions of patients to supervisors.
- Prepare dressing and assist in dressings.
- Provide general bedside care and teach patients and relatives concerning home care.
- Work as part of the treatment team to provide an overall treatment program.
- Motivate patients to develop self‑reliance in daily living.
- Assist in supervision and instruction of subordinate personnel.
- Attend meetings and assist public health nurses with annual flu immunization and antihypertensive screening/counseling.
- Vocational nursing methods, techniques, terminology, and procedures.
- Medical terminology.
- Patient hygiene and bedside care.
- Isolation techniques and sterile and aseptic techniques for certain positions.
- Care of nursing equipment and supplies.
- Mental health or public health care procedures.
- Communicate effectively with sick or disturbed patients.
- Administer routine treatments and medicines.
- Keep accurate records and charts.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Possession of a valid license as a Vocational Nurse issued by the California State Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license (required for some positions that involve driving).
- Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, and occasionally sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Noise level usually moderate.
