Shift: Days - 3x12hrs. Guaranteed

Job Summary:

The ICU Registered Nurse provides direct and specialized nursing care to critically ill or unstable patients requiring intensive treatment, advanced monitoring, and life-support therapies. The RN is responsible for assessing patient conditions, responding to rapid changes, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient care within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

1. Patient Care & Assessment

Perform comprehensive assessments on critically ill patients, including neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, and hemodynamic evaluations. Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and overall patient condition. Identify early signs of patient deterioration and intervene promptly. Document all assessments and interventions accurately.

2. Clinical Interventions

Administer medications, IV infusions, drips, and titratable vasoactive medications as ordered. Manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen therapy, and other respiratory devices. Perform wound care, catheter insertion/maintenance, and invasive line care (central lines, arterial lines). Assist with bedside procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and code blue resuscitation.

3. Monitoring & Equipment

Operate and troubleshoot advanced ICU equipment:
Ventilators Cardiac/Telemetry monitors Infusion pumps Hemodynamic monitors CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) equipment (if applicable)

4. Care Planning & Coordination

Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient needs and physician orders. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other team members. Communicate effectively with family members regarding patient condition and care goals.

5. Emergency Response

Respond immediately to rapid response calls, code blues, and patient crises. Provide ACLS-level interventions during emergencies. Stabilize critically unstable patients until advanced support is available.

6. Safety & Compliance

Follow infection-control and isolation protocols strictly. Maintain accurate medication administration and safety checks. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ICU protocols, and accreditation standards.

7. Patient & Family Education

Educate patients and families on treatments, equipment use, and care plans. Provide emotional support to families dealing with critical illness.
