Description:
Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency and Critical Care Nurses will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on day one. This is a pass/fail test. The unit has 30 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 1-2. 90% of the time, it will be a 1 to 2 ratio. Charge Nurse does not take a patient assignment. There are no nurse aides on this unit.
There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend. There is currently no holiday requirement but may be required to work. Scrub color is navy. Telemetry monitors are used. Ventilators are available. There is a hospitalist in-house 24/7. RT is available 24/7. Pharmacy is available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Schedules are made out about six weeks in advance.
Self-scheduling is available; however, the schedule is not finalized until reviewed by management. Floating to any telemetry or med-surg units is required. There is one day of unit orientation. The unit handles various common diagnoses and types of patients. The cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Cerner.
A BSN is not required.
