Description:
Telemetry, L/D, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on day one. This is a PASS/FAIL test. The Cardiac ICU has 30 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1 to 1-2, with 90% of the time being a 1 to 2 ratio. There will be a charge nurse who does not take a patient assignment. Nurse aides are not present on this unit.
There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend, with no current holiday requirement. Scrub color is navy. Tele monitors are available. Ventilators are in use. A hospitalist is available in-house 24/7. An intensive care team is present 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, with schedules made about 6 weeks in advance.
Self-scheduling is allowed; however, the schedule is not finalized until management reviews it. Floats may rotate to any telemetry or medical-surgical units. There will be one day of unit-specific orientation. Common diagnoses and types of patients include those related to cardiac care. Candidates must possess recent experience working in a mixed ICU environment. The cancellation policy allows the facility to cancel up to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks.
The charting system used is Cerner.
