Description:
Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, day one. This is a PASS/FAIL test. Holiday requests will be considered, but not guaranteed. The emergency room has 28 beds, including 4 fast track beds and 2 trauma bays. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Electronic medical records are managed using Cerner. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments.
Nurse aides include EMTs, with one available per shift, alongside a mid-shift EMT to assist with technical duties. There is a weekend requirement of every other week. Holidays are worked into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. On-call duties are expected one day per month, and if it is your turn, it may extend to two days.
Shifts are scheduled 12 hours, with days from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., mids varying between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and nights between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Scheduling is self-managed by seniority and made at least two weeks in advance. No floating to other units is required. Floor-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts. Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases.
The unit sees approximately 155 patients per day. Candidates are expected to work with a focus on teamwork and to help improve team dynamics efficiently. Travel experience is preferred, and some travelers may be able to take on trauma patients based on their experience. Cancellation policy permits the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is performed using Cerner.
A COVID vaccine certification is required. NIHSS certification is also required.
