Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian to help lead and expand emergency services within their established hospital. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced clinician who is passionate about emergency medicine and motivated to shape the growth, protocols, and direction of a developing ER service. The role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership involvement, working closely with hospital management to build a strong and collaborative emergency team.

The hospital is located in a scenic Northern California community known for outdoor recreation and a welcoming atmosphere. As a full-time Emergency Veterinarian, you will manage urgent and critical cases, oversee patient flow from intake to discharge, and contribute to refining operational standards. In this position, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing comprehensive emergency exams, diagnostics, and treatment plans
• Performing emergency surgical procedures when indicated
• Overseeing hospitalized cases and participating in daily case discussions
• Collaborating with leadership to evaluate and improve hospital protocols
• Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients during urgent situations

Qualifications Needed:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution
• Active California veterinary license in good standing
• DEA registration or ability to obtain and maintain
• Minimum of one year clinical experience in veterinary practice
• Strong emergency diagnostic and surgical capabilities
