Salary and BenefitsSALARY: $22,424 - $28,619 APPROXIMATE MONTHLY* / $129.37 - $165.11 APPROXIMATE HOURLY*
BENEFITS
- Sign on Bonus: Bonuses are paid in two installments - $7,500 paid at first paycheck and $7,500 after 1 year evaluation period. The employee may defer receipt of the $15,000 to the end of the fully served retention period without any repayment obligation.
- Holidays: 12 days per year plus one additional floating holiday.
- Vacation: 10 days first 3 years; 15 days 4-9 years; 17 days 10-15 years; 20 days 16 years and thereafter.
- Sick Leave: 12 days per year with a generous pro rata payoff at termination after at least 5 years.
- Administrative Leave: 80 hours per calendar year.
- Retirement: CalPERS, coordinated with Social Security.
- Insurance: Medical and dental plan, with County paying for most of the employee and a portion of the dependent cost; a vision plan, a fully paid life insurance policy and long-term disability plan.
- Other: Deferred Compensation plan and IRC Section 125 plan

Department OverviewOverview of HHSA The Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency partners with the community to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of residents. HHSA is organized into four branches:
Behavioral Health & Social Services, Public Health, Economic Mobility, and centralized Administration Services. HHSA promotes optimal health for all. The frail, the abused, the mentally ill, and those without resources look to HHSA for services and resources to meet basic needs and protect health and safety.
Behavioral Health & Social Services focuses on comprehensive mental health and essential social services to adults, children, and families, integrating behavioral health and social support services to promote stability and wholeness.
Children’s Services encompasses services to protect children’s mental and physical well-being, licensing of foster/adoptive homes, reunification in the Dependency Court, and coordination with juvenile justice and education.
Adult Services supports people 18 and older, including outpatient care, crisis services, crisis lines, residential services, and related supports.
Under general direction of the HHSA Adult Services Branch Director, to act as Chief of Psychiatry for mental health and alcohol/drug services, oversee medical staff in outpatient and institutional/community placements, and provide consultative support for community physicians and clinics as part of primary care practice.
Distinguishing CharacteristicsThis position reports to the HHSA Adult Services Branch Director and is distinguished by responsibility for professional standards of psychiatric and medical practice within the Adult and Children’s Services Branches, and in a consultative capacity in the community.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will provide excellent clinical care to vulnerable populations, influence clinical work site-wide towards holistic care, and work with adults with chronic mental health challenges with or without co-occurring conditions in inpatient or outpatient settings.
